Also in winter, Carinthia is a wonderful place to be, with surprising ski areas that are a nice mix of Austrian, Italian and Slovenian influences. Skiers can indulge themselves here: wide and snow-sure pistes, fantastic descents through the deep snow, kilometers of fun on the slopes and numerous snow parks and freeride areas. Due to the location of the slopes on the south side of the Austrian Alps, you always ski on the sunny side of the mountain. Did you know that the ski areas in Carinthia have over 100 hours more sunshine than other destinations north of the Alpenkopf ridge?

If you stay with us in the winter months, there are several ski areas in the area. The closest ski area, Gerlitzen, is about a 20-minute drive away. Other ski areas include Dreiländereck (30 minutes' drive), Bad Klein Kircheim (40 minutes) and Nassfeld (50 minutes). Nassfeld is the largest ski area in Carinthia and has no less than 110 kilometers of slopes.

In total there are more than 30 ski areas in Carinthia and Osttirol with a total of more than 800 kilometers of prepared slopes, many kilometers of pristine slopes for lovers of deep snow and numerous mogul slopes and half pipes. Thanks to state-of-the-art snow cannons, the slopes are absolutely snow-sure from December to spring. In addition, you can ski more than 300 days a year in the Mölltaler Glacier ski area.
